Keith Elwyn Hardy Harrisville- Keith Elwyn Hardy passed away peacefully on Friday, October 30, 2009, from leukemia, with his loving family around him. Dad was born March 30, 1933, to Harvey and Mildred Hardy in Harrisville, Utah where he lived all his life. He graduated from Weber High School and Weber State College. He married Patricia C. Hardy on October 3, 1958, in the Los Angeles Temple. They were married almost 42 years and were blessed with four children. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served an LDS mission to Swiss/Austria. He served in many callings including bishop, Stake Presidency, High Counselor, Stake Young Mens Superintendent, High Priest Group Leader and four years as a temple ordinance worker. He proudly served in the U.S. Army in the 6th Infantry Regiment during the occupation of Berlin, Germany. While there, he sent a letter proposing to mom. He was active in Scouting and was very proud in his accomplishment of receiving the Silver Beaver Award. He was active in the community serving on the Harrisville City Council for 10 years and also as assistant Mayor. He spent 11 years on the Mosquito Abatement District, serving 2 of those years as President. He also served 9 years on the Board of Adjustments. After the passing of Mom, Dad married Marlene L. Peterson on February 2, 2002, in the Ogden LDS Temple. Through this union he inherited a wonderful family. He and Marlene served an LDS mission to Birmingham, Alabama. Dad was a kind, gentle, loving man who taught by example. He was Christlike in all he did and always served others. He loved spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren. He will be sorely missed by his wife, Marlene; his four children, David (Jeri) Hardy, Alan (Kim) Hardy, Lynnette (Brian) Weese, and Carolyn Williams; 13 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; Marlenes three children, Brad (Celeste) Peterson, Todd (Jennifer) Peterson, Jason (Jan) Peterson; and 4 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Pat, and one great-grandson. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 4, 2009, at 11 a.m. at the Harrisville 1st Ward building, 435 W Harrisville Rd in Harrisville, Utah. Friends may call at Myers Mortuary in Ogden, 845 Washington Blvd. on Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. and from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to the funeral on Wednesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, Dad requests that you make a generous donation to the LAM foundation, 4015 Executive Park Drive. Suite 320, Cincinnati, OH 4524, or to thelamfoundation.org to help in LAM research. Internment in the Myers Evergreen Memorial Park, 100 Monroe Blvd. in Ogden, Utah. The family would like to thank his doctors, and all who have cared for him including the Blood and Marrow Transplant Clinic at LDS Hospital and VistaCare Hospice for their tender, loving care. Dad, you have blessed our lives so much. We have great comfort in knowing that you and mom are together again and we look forward to the time when we will all be together. Until then...we will love and miss you!

Keith is my first cousin on his mother's side. I loved and respected Keith. While in the Air Force I was fortunate to have a three year period where I would travel to Hill Air Force Base where Keith worked and get to visit with him. He spoke loudly through example that has often come to my mind when I considered how I should handle difficult life experiences. Keith had many difficult life experiences and from what I saw he always handled them with great good cheer. I have come to believe that is one of the high order spiritual gifts. I send my love to his family

My prayers and condolences go out to Keith's family and my dear friend Marlene. Marlene and I became friends when her son Jason married my daughter Jan. Keith leaves behind a lot of good memories for those who were fortunate enough to have him touch their lives. Illness keeps me away from the viewing/funeral, but I wanted you to know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. May the Lord bless and comfort you all at this time. Marlene, Jason, and Jan I hope you all know how much I love you.

I have aways treasured Keith as a cousin and a dear friend. He has always lived a life to reflect credit upon his family and the Church. He certainly has given his all in the service of the Lord over the years. What a great reward he has awaiting him!

I was a missionary in the Alabama Birmingham Mission. I am so grateful for your dad and husband. It was always nice to see him at zone conferences and on transfer day. He was always happy and had a smile. He is a very special man. Hopefully I can live up to his standard. I will always remember him.

I would hope that when it was my time to go, I would leave a legacy as Keith has. I know all too well that words can't heal your heart right now but I hope and pray that you will find peace and comfort from our Heavenly Father and you will find joy in your wonderful memories.
