FORT WORTH – Vera Doris Brackin, 89, went to sleep on this earth on November 1, 2009, and woke in the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! She served her Lord for many, many years, and when she could no longer teach Sunday School as she loved to do, she became a prayer warrior. If you needed someone to pray for you, she would do it every day!
She is preceded in death by a host of loving family members which include her loving husband of 62 years, Thomas “Hilton” Brackin and her loving son of 65 years, Thomas “Tommy” Brackin. She was also preceded in death by her parents, George Ewing and Ersie Bell Allen Lindsey; four sisters, Pauline Mertz, Elanora Whatley , Margaret Peoples and Joann McElvaney; four brothers, George “Bud” Lindsey, Jr.; Rex Lindsey, Harry Lindsey and Leroy Lindsey.
Doris is remembered as a loving mother to Nancy Underwood and Donna Rose, loving mother-in-law to Kay Brackin and Ivyl Rose, and a loving sister to Richard Lindsey (Beth) and Barbara Matteke (Roy).
She was known as Granny to Dennis Underwood, Jr. (Julie), Susan Wood (Glenn), Sheila Cannon (Mark), Debbie Brackin, Renee Taylor (Gary), Jason Austin (Nickie), Tim Austin (Tam), Erika Rose Davis (Steve) and James Rose (Jaime). She had 17 great-grandkids, Lindsey (Troy), John, Adrienne, Kami (Jason), Brettany, Kody (Amber), Kory, Ashlyn, Kacey, Kenneth, Chelsea, Chandler, Quincy, Erik, Kennedy, Emma, Noah, Ava and Elle. She had eight great-great-grandkids, Carter, Makenna, Kaylie, Colton, Madison, Kyle, Kendai and Dru.
You are welcome to come Thursday, November 5th from 6 to 8 p.m. to pay your respects to her at Laurel Land Funeral Home. The celebration of her life will be Friday, November 6th at 10 a.m. in Laurel Land Memorial Chapel with interment following in the Old Rugged Cross section of Laurel Land Memorial Park. Tim Austin, Tommy Walls, Ivyl Rose and Jason Austin will be officiating her celebration of life.
Doris’ desire is that if you do not know the Lord as your personal Savior, that you will soon accept Him into your life. Because she had accepted the Lord into her life, she did not fear death. She said, “I’m not scared to die, I’m ready!”
