Diane Hanf Barney of Franklin Lakes died in her home Friday November 20, 2009, after a courageous battle with cancer. Diane attended Rutherford High School where she was remembered for her talent at the piano. Diane lived in Oakland for 17 years before moving to Franklin Lakes. Diane's love of sports was evident in her participation as coach and supporter in the recreation programs in Oakland. Her children have followed her example by coaching as well. Beloved wife of Donald Barney for 46 years. Loving and devoted mother of Donald W. Barney, Jr., and his wife Kerry, Allison White and her husband Joe, Kerry Eckert and her husband David, Mark Barney and his wife Dana, and Kathleen Butler and her husband Jason. Beloved Nan of Derek, Corinne, Madeline, and Annelise Barney, Shawn, Trevor and Baylee White, Peter and Leanne Eckert, Jonah, Alexander, Markus, Lukas, and Sophia Barney, Rosalee and John Butler. Sister to Fordham and his wife Susan, William and his wife Linda, James and his partner, Susan Elwood, sister-in-law Carol Chandler and her husband Eric along with ten nieces and nephews, a step niece and nephew, and fourteen great nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her brother Robert Hanf. Diane was devoted to her family and friends who were a blessing to her throughout her life and she to them. The funeral will leave on November 24 from the Oakland Memorial Home 330 Ramapo Valley Road Oakland, NJ at 9:30 am for a 10 am funeral Liturgy at Most Blessed Sacrament Church 787 Franklin Lakes road Franklin Lakes, NJ. Followed by a burial at Christ the King Cemetery 980 Huron Ave Franklin Lakes, NJ. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday November 23, 2009 from 2-4&7-9 PM.
