Death of a Spouse

THE LOSS OF A LOVED ONE

DEAREST LISA AND FAMILY, I DO NOT KNOW HOW YOU ARE FEELING BUT I CAN FEEL WITH YOU ALL. IN 1985 MY DAUGHTER WAS 5 YRS. OLD SHE WAS KILLED BY A DRUNK DRIVER, THEN IN 1986 MY 6 MONTH OLD PASSED AWAY AND THEN IN 1987 MY SWEETHEART SINCE I WAS 16 PASSED AWAY OF ALCOHOLISM HE WAS 37 YRS. OLD. MY WORLD WAS SO LONELY I CANNOT EVEN EXPLAIN THE EMPTYNESS I FELT AT THAT TIME. THAK GOD I DO HAVE A DAUGHTER HER NAME IS HEATHER SHE IS 29 YRS. AND SHE IS THE LOVE OF MY LIFE IF I HAD NOT HAD HEATHER I DO NOT KNOW WHERE I WOULD BE TODAY. I BECAME A COUNSLER FOR ALCOHOLISM TO HELP OTHERS BECOME SOBER AND SO FAR I ALONE HAVE 10 COUPLES WHO HAVE BEEN SOBER FOR 20 YRS. THERE IS ALWAYS SOMETHING POSITIVE THAT COMES OUT OF SOMETHING NEGITIVE SO THAT IS MY STORY. IT WILL TAKE TIME LISA WITHOUT PATRICK BIUT I KNOW IN MY HEART HE WOULD WANT YOU TO BE HAPPY HE LOVED YOU SO MUCH.

MAY GOD BLESS AND KEEP ALL OF YOU THOUGH THIS TERRIBLE LOSS.
SIINCERELY, JAN PENDERGRAFT

Comments:

I lost my husband, Hector on November 3, 2009 and unfortunately i found out he had a BAC level of .204. I had done so much to try to help him and I know he had truly tried. I am so glad to hear that you are now a counselor. I hope that one day when I am strong enough I could talk to people about the importance of staying involved with the program for life. I know if Hector would have kept going to meetings he would have been able to fight the craving and maybe if I would have put my foot down and made him go but we were so happy I wanted him to stay home with me and the girls. Sorry but i guess i'm venting. I pray that you continue to help others like my Hector.
