Jonesboro – Frances Nichols, 78, passed away Thursday, November 19, 2009 at her residence.
She was born April 13, 1931 in Paragould to the late Charles and Elsie Swindel. Mrs. Nichols retired after thirty-five years with Frolic Footwear. She was a member of the Greensboro Church of Christ and a former member of the Extension Homemaker Club. She loved playing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling, gardening and her friends.
Survivors include a daughter, Sandra Nichols and son and his wife, Roger and Valerie Nichols all of Jonesboro; a brother, Woodson Swindel of Edmond, OK; two sisters, Dorothy Browning and Louise Stark both of Jonesboro; four grandchildren, Nick Briney and wife Gina of Jonesboro, Candi Dobbs of Batesville, Shane Nichols of Jonesboro and Brian Nichols of Bountiful, Utah; five great-grandsons, Ashton Briney, Tannis Briney, Sean Briney, James Dobbs and Russell Dobbs; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Addison M. Nichols and four brothers.
A celebration of her life will be held on Monday, November 23, 2009 at 2.00 P.M. at the Gregg Funeral Home Chapel in Jonesboro with David Gibson officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
Visitation will be Sunday, November 22, 2009, from 3:00 until 6:00 p.m. at the Gregg Funeral Home in Jonesboro.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Jonathan Gibson, Nick Briney, Shane Nichols, James Dobbs, Jordan Taylor and Dr. Bruce Taylor and as honorary pallbearers, her great-grandsons, Ashton, Tannis, Sean, James and Russell; Norman Rudd, Mark Gibson, Dr. Steve Woodruff, Ron Boling, Oscar Lilly and Bill Jackson.
Lasting memorials may be given to the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund or the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House or the Children Home of Paragould.
