Bertha P. Chestnut, 82, of Ambler, died November 14, 2009 at Abington Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late Pralor Chestnut. She was born in Coles Point, VA on April 6, 1927 to the late Paul and Lilly (Johnson) Gaskins. She attended Mudbridge School System in Coles Point, VA. Bertha worked and retired from Honeywell as a Dietician, and also for Upper Dublin School District. She was an Usher for Zion Baptist Church in Ambler for many years. Bertha had a passion for cooking, sewing, and enjoyed playing bingo, but most of all provided endless love for her friends and family. She was a foster grandparent with Montgomery County Head Start Program. Bertha is survived by 2 children Deborah Gaskins of Ambler, Cecil Gaskins of Germany, 5 grandchildren: Shannon Gaskins (Mellissa) of Maryland, Trina Chestnut and Celena Trueheart (Scott) of Ambler, Pamela Gaskins and Maniz of Germany, 4 great-grandchildren: Monroe Grey, Jr., Dominique and Latria Trueheart-Burrell and Monet Grey all of Ambler, a sister Naomi Smith of Virginia. She was pre-deceased by 16 siblings. She was a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
