I am so sorry to learn of Mrs. Crowe's passing. She was a loyal reader of the Irish Echo Newspaper and I'm sorry we never got the chance to do a story on this remarkable woman.

I will always treasure the sincere and warm welcome that my family received whenever we were fortunate enough to be hosted by Mrs. Crowe at the Members Dining Room. My deepest condolences go to my former colleague and dear friend Kathleen and to the rest of the family.

It was only yesterday that I found out Sally had passed away. I met Sally in 1974 because of my aunt, Gertrude Wolf, who worked on Capitol Hill for 40 years and used to have breakfast every morning in the House Dining Room. My aunt adored Sally, and Sally was crazy about my aunt. They were both the same age and loved working on Capitol Hill. Sally was filled w/ joy and laughter. She always had a kind word for me, and she always found a seat in the House Dining Room for my brother, Mark Levin, and me. Sally, I'll always remember your lovely Irish brogue, red hair and fabulous skin. I hope you and Patrick are together again, and maybe you're even enjoying reminiscing about the Hill w/ President Kennedy, Senator Kennedy, and Speaker of the House O'Neill. Love, Alyn

Sally's memory for names was phenomenal. She remembered me in 2007 even though I had not worked on the Hill for over twenty years. She always made you feel welcome and cared for.

Dear Judy, Veronica, and Kathy:
My heartfelt sympathy to all of you. Sally was an Angel here on earth, so there is no doubt that she is in heaven now. You have suffered a tremendous loss, but I know your memories will overshadow the loss as you recall are all the good and joyous times you had with your mom. She had a nice long life, but it is never enough for the precious children and grandchildren she has left behind.
Judy, I left you a phone message. Do call me when you have time (202) 529-4598. I am so proud of Fiona. Tiffany graduated last year or rather the school got rid of her in the nicest way they could.
Again, my prayers are with you all. Sally was truly a gem and I will never forget her kindness and generosity to me and my children during my Hill time. I am sure she will me missed by all of those who ate at the House Restaurant. She was the best they ever had there.
All my Love,
Maxine

God Bless you and your family in your time of grief. I got to know"Miss Sally" fondly for the last 11/2 years as the General Manager of the food operation at House of Representatives. I will never forget her introducing me to the many Congressmen and Congresswomen and how she impacted their lives on such a personal basis. My introduction to the Speaker, Ms Pilousi was a priceless moment as she grabbed my wrist with her powerfull grip and took me over to interrupt graciously the Speakers lunch with her husband. Sally will be personally missed by me and many who she worked with for her smile, witt and charm as well as candidness. She will always have a special place in my heart

I'm sorry to hear about your mother's passing, Kathleen. You've spoken of her often. Still working at 92?! I hope I'm so blessed. I read the tribute letter about her on Politico.com. Very nice.

I did not have the pleasure or the good fortune to meet and get to know Sarah Crowe, but through her progeny I know her to be an amazing woman. She is a gift to the world and amazes me still, as she lives on in the form of Kathleen, Veronica, Katie and Grace. May God grant her peace and we her strength to carry on without her. My blessing and prayers for the family.

I work in the Members Dining Room. Sally was a delight to work with. Whenever I had a check with a congressmens hen scratch signature I couldn't read, Sally knew it every time. Rest in peace Miss Sally. Say hello to my parents up there.

The Gift Of Knowing You
There are gifts of many treasures
For both the young and old,
From the tiniest little trinkets
To great boxes filled with gold.
But, put them all together
And they could not stand in lieu,
Of the greatest gift of all
The gift of knowing you.
When your times are filled with troubles
Sadness, grief, or even doubt,
When all those things you planned on
Just aren't turning out.
Just turn and look behind you
From the place at which you stand,
And look for me through the shadows
And reach out for my hand.
I will lift from you your burden
And cry for you your tears,
Bear the pain of all your sorrows
Though it may be for a thousand years.
For in the end I would be happy
To have helped you start anew,
It's a small price to pay
For the gift of knowing you.

I only hope that I can be a fraction of the tremendous, incredible woman that you were. I will always love you and try to live up to your example.

Sally was my mother-in-law and treated me to many good times in Greenbelt and Ireland. I will miss her and the glass of poteen she always offered me when I visited her home. She worked on Capitol Hill right up to the end, where she was the happiest joking with Congressmen and their staff. there.

May God bless and keep you close to His heart, Mrs. Crowe. I knew you as Kathy's mom and one of the strongest, most dynamic personalities I'd ever met and, fifty-odd years later, that compliment still stands. You made your daughters the strong, successful women they've become by being 'you' and I know you must have had enormous pride in them and in their families as well.
Rest well, Mrs. Crowe; job well done.

Sallie was a dear friend whose friendship, sense of humor and enthusiasm made all of my visits to the Members Dining Room memorable events. She will be truly missed by everyone that had the good fortune to know her.

I worked side by side with Ms.Salley for 3 and a half years in the Members Dining Room. I had just started on Capitol Hill and Ms. Sally took me under her wing and guided me through. I was so nervous. She would always say, " It's alright my dear. Just pray about it and God will take care of you". I could always count on her for a kind, wise and true word or two.We shared secrets, laughter and tears. I loved Ms. Salley with every beat of my heart and will miss her dearly.

As a Capitol Hill staffer for more than 15 years, I regularly ate in the House Members Dining Room where I got to know Sallie. Words can't express how grateful I am to have known her. She was kind, considerate and cheerful. I don't know her daughter, but I feel like I do, because she always kept me apprised of how her daughter was doing out in the world. I'll miss her tremendously.
