Back in the early 1950's, on our black and white television set, Gene Autry, our singing cowboy, was center stage in our living room, at mid-20th century! We miss the likes of Gene.

As a child growing during the 1950s, I have found memories of Gene Autry and Roy Rodgers. May they both rest in peace

I grew up watching Gene Autry movies. As the years have passed he still delights me. He was handsome, tough, kind and generous. Clean cut at all times even in his movie fights. He had the voice of an angel and I still listen to him each day. There is no one today to teach us the values he set forth for himself and others. I miss him very much but relive the memories in his movies.

I was a child of the 50's,and I really enjoyed going to our local cinema on Saturday mornings to see the latest cowboy films on show. I loved all the stars and regarded them all as heroes.However Gene Autry was, and still is my favorite.Good looking,tough,fast on the draw and kind hearted.He was the epitome of what a hero should be.Neat and clean in mind body and spirit,that was how Gene was.He was a perfect example to little boys such as I was.I only wish I could have met him in person.I am now collecting his movies on D.V.D.thankfully we have this technology so that we can show our children that fine upstanding people like Gene Autry were once around not only to entertain us,but to also inspire us and teach us right living.Thanks Gene, we miss you.

As a baby-boomer and child of the 50s TV generation, Gene Autry taught me that good guys aren't superstars or heroes, they don't make zillions of dollars or headlines.
