Bay – W. E. “Bill” Taylor, 82, passed away Monday, November 2, 2009 at his residence.
He was born March 28, 1927 in Baldwyn, Mississippi to the late Claud and Flora Taylor. He served proudly in the United States Army during World War II, serving in Italy. Mr. Taylor was retired from Life and Casualty Insurance and a member of the First Baptist Church of Bay. He loved camping and fishing. He worked ten years for the Corp of Engineers at Hebers Springs. Bill enjoyed basketball, the ASU Indians and blue grass music.
Survivors include his wife, Iris Watts Taylor of the home; two sons and their wives, Ron and Renee Taylor of Bay and Don and Jacqueline Taylor of Royse City, Texas; a daughter and her husband, Teresa and Robert Bellamy of Sherwood; three brothers, James Taylor of Trumann, Clyde Taylor of West Memphis and Johnny Taylor of Fulton, Mississippi; a sister, Martha Reich of Baldwyn, Mississippi; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren and two dear family members, Jerry Watts and Linda Watts Hancock.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Billy Joe Taylor and a grandchild, Matthew Taylor.
A celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, November 5, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Bay with Rev. Danny Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Nettleton Cemetery under the direction of Gregg Funeral Home of Jonesboro.
Visitation will be Wednesday, November 5, 2009 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Gregg Funeral Home in Jonesboro.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are his grandsons, Michael Taylor, David Taylor, Shane Hutchison, Billy Taylor, Zane Gage, Kellen Gage and Matthew Taylor and as honorary pallbearers his granddaughters, Jill Parham and Tara Hutchison.
Lasting memorials may be sent to the First Baptist Church in Bay.
